Looking for a school where wellbeing is at the heart of everything we do?

Interested in becoming part of a strong team?

We are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic class teacher to join our team at The Wells Free School.

We currently have a part time teaching vacancy for September 2025 in our Early Years setting. Initially this is a fixed term contract until 31st August 2026.

As a one-form entry primary school, it is essential that any applicant has the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. We are part of the Tunbridge Wells Primary Schools group so you will also have the opportunity to work collaboratively with other schools as well as within our school.

We are looking for the best possible candidates who will share our vision and:

  • Complement our amazing team
  • Support our school ethos and values and contribute to them through their own strengths, interests and talents
  • Share our view that pupils’ personal development is a fundamental part of their learning
  • Can be flexible and are willing to adapt to the changing demands of primary teaching, particularly in a one-form entry primary school
  • Are fun to be with and inspire children and adults alike with their enthusiasm and commitment
  • Have the determination to ensure that children have the very best experience.

We are a school that believes in investing in our staff and would ensure that you receive quality support and on-going CPD opportunities wherever you are in your career path.

We would very much like to hear from you so please contact us and ask to speak to the Headteacher or Deputy Headteacher to discuss this opportunity further. We look forward to hearing from you.

Information about the school

The Wells Free School is committed to safeguarding children and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. We will ensure that all our recruitment and selection practices reflect this. All successful candidates will be subject to an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS) along with other relevant employment checks including social media checks.

The Wells Free School opened in September 2013 with just years R, 1 and 2. We have expanded each year and in September 2016, we moved into our brand-new school building. We now have 213 pupils divided into 7 classes.

With a strong focus on child-led learning and a commitment to outdoor learning experiences, the school aims to promote excellence and wellbeing, ensuring that our pupils have a real understanding of their community, both locally and globally. After our recent OFSTED inspection in February 2025 we remain a strong good school. We became a Nurture UK accredited school in September 2024.

Please note, that as a Free School we operate different school hours and some term times, details of which can be found on the school website.
