Join our team at Maidstone and Malling Alternative Provision as a Part-Time Gardener/Grounds Keeper. We're looking for a dedicated individual to help maintain our beautiful school grounds for 2 days per week.

 

Location: Maidstone and Malling Alternative Provision, Maidstone.

 

Hours: 7 hours per day (8:30 -4 pm with ½ hour for lunch)  term-time, plus a week during the summer (39 working weeks).  Days to be agreed mutually.

Salary: Kent Range - KSB  

Actual Pay £8078

 

Key Responsibilities

♦ Carrying out a variety of gardening duties, including hedge trimming, soil cultivation, digging, forking, mulching, watering, raking, weeding, edging, bed preparation, planting and leaf collection.

♦ Maintaining and cultivating lawns, including cutting and feeding.

♦ Ensuring the playing areas, borders and footpaths are clear and free from litter debris at all times. Emptying waste bins regularly.

♦ Carrying out gritting, salt spreading and snow clearing around the School, as required in the School’s Salt and Gritting policy. This may require additional hours to be worked at times of extreme weather.

♦ Undertaking the general maintenance of equipment as directed by the Business Manager and/or Site Manager.

♦ Ensuring that all equipment is secured and stored safely and cleanly and fuel supplies replenished. Reporting any defects or breakages to the Business Manager and/or Site Manager.

♦ Lifting and moving furniture and other equipment. Annual painting of benches and other equipment.

♦ Complying with the School’s Health and Safety policy, reporting any faulty appliances, damaged equipment or any other potential hazards in a timely manner.

♦ General support work as requested by the Business Manager and/or Site Manager.

Information about the school

The Maidstone and Malling Alternative Provision (MMAP) is located approximately 1 mile from the centre of Maidstone and is the hub of the Maidstone and Malling Inclusion Service.

The Provision supports young people with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties from KS3 to KS4. These students may be at risk of permanent exclusion from their mainstream setting and the Provision offers outreach, transition and respite support for KS3 students. The placements in KS4 are usually longer term to enable students to complete their qualifications.
