Pilgrims’ Way Primary School is excited to announce a new opportunity for an Experienced SEN Teacher to join our inclusive and dedicated team.
We are seeking a skilled and passionate professional with a strong track record of supporting children with complex needs—particularly those working within the Engagement Model. This is a key role in our provision, ideal for someone who is committed to personalised, child-centred education.
This role will be encompass two classes, The Meadow and The Den which have approx 6 children in each.
 
About the Role:
As our new SEN Teacher, you will:
  • Deliver high-quality, individualised teaching to pupils with a range of learning needs which will include intensive interaction, attention autism and a sensory diet 
  • Plan and implement engaging, differentiated lessons in line with the Engagement Model, as well as focusing on areas such as attention, emotional regulation and social communication
  • Use a variety of alternative communication tools (e.g. Makaton, Communication boards &  other AAC devices) to support pupils with communication challenges.
  • Lead on the creation, implementation, and regular review of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) and personalised learning plans, ensuring that each child’s provision is tailored and effective.
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCO, support staff, therapists, and families to ensure consistent, holistic support.
  • Create a safe, nurturing learning environment that promotes inclusion, confidence, and progress.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with significant experience in SEN teaching.
  • Demonstrated experience of working with pupils who are assessed against the Engagement Model.
  • Skilled in using alternative communication strategies and tools to support non-verbal or minimally verbal children.
  • Strong understanding of EHCP processes, including writing, reviewing, and implementing personalised targets and provision.
  • A reflective, empathetic, and flexible practitioner committed to positive outcomes for all learners.
  • Excellent interpersonal and teamwork skills.
