We provide an exciting and fast paced environment that is constantly seeking to develop and enhance the best learning opportunities for our learners. This is achieved through a dedicated peer to peer coaching and support programme, self-reflection and an ethos and culture where everyone is committed to school improvement.

As we move into our sixth academic year, Folkestone Beacon Plus are looking for an experienced teacher to lead the education elements for our trailblazing post 19 provision for three days per week.  Building upon your current excellent classroom practice, we will be looking for a creative person who can engage with young adults and facilitate a creative and energetic learning environment, bridging the gap between employment, life learning skills and age appropriate development.

The role would suit a candidate with experience of teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs and a comprehensive knowledge of the curriculum. An expertise in different learning styles and differentiation to enable all learners to reach their maximum potential is essential. The role includes delivering Maths skills from entry level to level two that lead to an accredited outcome that demonstrates the excellent progress they have made. Excellent safeguarding knowledge, interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with young adults is essential in your role as tutor and mentor. This role also includes being the lead for our Cultural Capital enrichment experiences for learners, bringing in local visiting speakers and arranging enrichment week activities for all learners.

The large focus on work based experience will provide an exciting number of opportunities for “live” learning that will enable the learners to develop employment and independent skills to support their transition into their communities in a really meaningful way.

This role is up to 0.6 FTE and based at our learning centre in the heart of the Folkestone town.

Beacon Plus is committed to safeguarding the welfare of adults at risk and expects all staff to share this commitment.
