Information about the school

At Monkton Church of England Primary School, we are dedicated to nurturing children to be both great people and great learners. We want the best for each individual with whom we share our lives, and we want everyone to be part of our loving school family. Our actions demonstrate this, as with God’s help, we embody our Christian Foundations of Compassion, Courage and Justice.

To help children grow and flourish as learners, we also have our PRIDE values. These values encourage children and staff to be: Positive; Resourceful, Innovative, Determined and Engaged.

We are blessed with fantastic facilities, including a spacious playground and a large field, providing ample opportunities for outdoor play and learning. Outdoor learning is integral to our ethos, with Forest School and OPAL play being central to our pupils’ development.

We take a unique, research-based approach to teaching. Our lessons are structured around hooks that engage children, encouraging them to make connections and, most importantly, to actively 'do' and experience the learning process. This hands-on approach ensures that every child remains engaged and motivated throughout their educational journey.

To ensure individualised support, each class is paired with a dedicated Teaching Assistant, providing a caring and supportive environment for all students. Additionally, we value our strong ties with the local community and regularly visit places such as the Monkton Nature Reserve, as well as other sites of interest, to inspire and deepen the children's learning.

To support working families, we offer wraparound care, ensuring that children have a safe and enriching environment outside of regular school hours.
