 We are looking to appoint a professional and highly motivated individual to join our school in Royal Tunbridge Wells.  The ideal candidate will be an experienced SENCO, able to ensure the effective delivery of SEND to all our pupils at Beechwood. They will support the policies and aims of the school and ensure the good accademic, social, emotional and physical development of every child.

Key Purpose of the Job

 Leadership

  • Leading the department, responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability
  • Maintain an accurate SEND register and provision map
  • Provide guidance to colleagues on teaching pupils with SEN or a disability, and advise on the graduated approach to SEN support
  • Work with early years providers, other schools, educational psychologists, health and social care professionals, and other external agencies
  • Be a key point of contact for external agencies, especially the local authority (LA)
  • Analyse assessment data for pupils with SEN or a disability
  • Implement and lead intervention groups for pupils with SEN, and evaluate their effectiveness
  • Liaise with parents and teachers regarding the SEND provision in school

 Teaching

 

  • Planning and preparing challenging schemes of work and lessons for small group and 1to1 interventions.
  • Utilise effective assessments and data to ensure excellent progress within the department
  • Assessing, recording and reporting on the development, progress and attainment of pupils.

 Further learning and development

  • Reviewing from time to time the methods of teaching and programme of work in the department and whole school.
  • Keep up to date with developments in SEND provision
  • Participating in arrangements for professional development.

Beechwood School is a forward thinking, inclusive and caring co-educational, independent, day, weekly and boarding school with over 370 pupils on roll (between 3 years and 18 years).
