ATTENDANCE OFFICER 

Salary:  NJC scale C1 point 6 - 19 £23,893 - £29,777 FTE (£20,551 - £25,613 actual) 

Hours: 37 hours per week, Term Time plus Staff Development Days (39 weeks per year) 

Location: Rainham Mark Grammar School 

Required: ASAP 

We are seeking to appoint an Attendance Officer to join us at Rainham Mark Grammar School.  You will monitor and report on whole school attendance data, analysing data to identify key areas of concern. You will work closely with pupils, staff, parents and carers to reduce levels of absence and act appropriately when persistent absence becomes a safeguarding issue. 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Ensure daily attendance registers are accurate and complete, and follow up on any incomplete data 
  • Follow up on any unexplained absences with parents/carers, escalating issues as appropriate in line with school procedures 
  • Initiate and oversee the administration of absence procedures 
  • Maintain accurate records of communications with parents/carers and relevant interventions 
  • Build and refresh knowledge of the school’s MIS and other relevant systems 

Requirements: 

  • Experience of working with secondary aged children 
  • Experience of identifying interventions to raise attendance of pupils 
  • Good listening skills 
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal 
  • GCSEs in English and Maths or equivalent 
  • Good time management skills
