We are looking to employ a Learning Support Assistant (Key Worker) to work alongside outstanding Class Teachers and Teaching Assistants.  This role is to support Reception and KS1 children with SEND, including autism, speech and language differences and communication and interaction differences. The successful candidate will need to have a good knowledge of age appropriate play and development, to encourage the children to interact with their peers appropriately. You will need to adapt provision to enable the children to access whole class and group learning activities.  Good knowledge of language-based tasks during child-initiated play is also needed. You will need to be patient, be an active listener and have very good communication skills.  You need to have a good understanding of how to support children with these needs within a mainstream setting.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop further skills and expertise within this field of education. You will work as part of a very supportive team who have positive relationships with outside agencies. We are committed to the inclusion of all children within our care.

This is initially a fixed term contract until 31st August 2024 but there is a high possibility that this contract will be extended.

The position is for Monday- Friday, 8.20am-1.15pm

38 weeks per year (term time only)

Downs View is a three-form entry purpose built Infant School on the outskirts of Ashford. We have 240 children in our school. We enjoy an excellent partnership with other local schools and settings, including Kennington C of E Academy. We have a Forest School area and extensive grounds which we utilise to maximise learning. We are part of a very proactive CATs collaboration where we benefit from working in partnership with fifteen other local schools in Ashford. We have two Senior Leaders in Education and have benefited from having a Maths mastery specialist; they enrich the opportunities we offer for all children. They also utilise their expertise to support other schools and colleagues.
