Are you ready to make a positive difference to children’s learning?

If the answer is yes, you could be the passionate teacher we're looking for to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and dynamic teacher to make a meaningful impact in the lives of our year 3 children. You would be working with approximately 20 lower key stage 2 children with TA support, mornings only Monday - Friday.

This post is temporary until the end of the academic year, in the first instance. We would consider a later start date for the right candidate.

We believe that children come first and we ensure their experiences at school help them to thrive in education. The ideal candidate will have a passion for providing rich and exciting learning opportunities both in the classroom and outside, making learning irresistible.

This presents an excellent opportunity for the right candidate to work in our two form entry school which has a proven record of supporting teachers in their career development and includes a comprehensive induction.

Our children achieve academic success but we work hard to develop them as well-rounded, responsible young people who will positively contribute to society in the future. Our THRIVE values: Teamwork, Health, Responsibility, Integrity, Value Everyone and Empathy help us to guide and support the children as they develop the skills and resilience which will equip them to overcome challenges that they may face in life.

Our motto 'Be Your Best You' allows children to aspire to achieving the very best standards in both their learning and their behaviours.

As a federation, we invest in the professional development of our team and personalise what we offer according to level of experience and career aspirations.

We are looking for a team player who works well with others and values the home/school partnership. Most importantly you will be someone who shows a genuine interest in children and who invests in all aspects of their learning and development.

See us in Action - Visits to the school are encouraged. Please contact the school office for an appointment and more information. Any questions relating to the role prior to application can be sent via email to: office@river.kent.sch.uk.

In line with KCSIE guidance, paragraph 220, all candidates who are shortlisted will be subject to an online search. This search is not part of the shortlisting process itself and all shortlisted candidates will have the opportunity to address any issues of concern resulting from the search.

Information about the school

River is an inclusive school. Our children are valued as unique individuals; we celebrate diversity and respect children regardless of ability, gender, ethnicity or religion. We aim to sustain a happy, caring, supportive and positive learning community where each child can achieve success. The school is situated in a popular residential area, just outside the main town of Dover. The school is fully inclusive and attracts children from the local community. Parents and governors are very interested and supportive of the school and play an active part in all aspects of our continuing development. The school roll is approximately 400 with children organised into fourteen mixed ability classes. We also have a Specialist Resource Provision class for 12 children with speech and/or language impairments. These children spend much time each day in their mainstream class with their peers. We are fortunate to have a vibrant and energetic staff team who support each other fully, sharing ideas and best practice.

As a Federation we will offer you:

  • Enthusiastic children who are motivated to learn and proud of our schools.
  • An exciting opportunity to be part of shaping the future of our school.
  • A learning community which values ideas, initiative, positivity and creativity.
  • A team of dedicated teachers and support staff who are fully committed to our schools and ethos.
  • A positive, supportive and stimulating learning environment for staff and children.
  • Opportunities to both lead and engage in professional learning across our federation and within our Learning Hub.
  • A strong partnership with parents, carers and our local community.
  • A supportive governing board, providing appropriate challenge.
  • Regular staff room treats!
