Thinking Facilities are seeking to appoint a Health and Safety Advisor for our Trust. You will work and support all of our schools.

This crucial role involves providing expert support and guidance on trustwide health and safety issues, overseeing audits, inspections, and ensuring compliance with legislative requirements.

The successful applicant will have a solid understanding of Health and Safety legislation and best practices within schools. They will be NEBOSH qualified and conduct thorough audits and inspections, providing detailed reports and recommendations.

 Willingness to travel to Trust sites and attend emergency site meetings/visits as necessary is essential. Therefore the successful applicant must have a UK drivers licence.

  • Support headteachers and staff in implementing local health and safety arrangements, policies, and Department for Education requirements
  • Review compliance paperwork, prepare reports, and provide key recommendations for rectification
  • Liaise with external bodies such as HSE, emergency services, and insurers as needed.
  • Lead on fleet management, ensuring statutory requirements are met and staff MIDAS training is up to date
  • Collaborate with academies to develop Health and Safety Management systems aligned with Trust policies
  • Work with the Thinking Facilities team to ensure academies meet required levels of statutory compliance
  • Escalate key risks to the Head of Estates and Health and Safety arising from visits, inspections, or external consultations
  • Undertake internal audits and reviews of academy premises, producing summary reports and working with senior leaders on followup
  • Provide support and guidance to academies on educational visits, ensuring compliance with policies and legislation
  • You will ensure that robust health and safety procedures are in place for all the Hubs activities
