We are excited to advertise a job for a full time Key Worker which is a perfect job if you have young children of your own, as it works around school timings and holidays!   

The hours are as follows: 

Key Stage Two (Year 3/4 ) - Full Time - 8.30am to 3.15pm. 

This is an exciting opportunity for someone to join our team. Being a keyworker is about supporting a child or children who have additional needs and find school that bit more challenging.   Therefore, we are looking for someone who is calm, patient, nurturing, has different ways to de-escalate and above all has the capacity not to take things personally when the child/ren they are supporting has/have a bad day - we all have bad days!   We also want someone who has a drive and passion for education; where fun, enjoyment and quality first support is at the heart of all lessons/activities. We want a new member of staff to add capacity to our team and to make a real difference to the child/ren and family that they are supporting.  If you have these qualities please arrange a visit and meet the team!

Essential:

  • Previous Teaching Assistant Experience is desirable
  • Be a team player able to seek and follow advice
  • Have an interest in children’s nurture, while at the same time being firm, but fair.
  • Be able to form positive and empathetic relationships with children, parents and colleagues
  • Have a reasonable level of IT skills
  • Be able to work independently using their own initiative, as well as with guidance
  • Be prepared to change nappies or help with toileting problems
  • Have good written and spoken communication skills
  • Have a GCSE pass in Maths and English.

Barming Pre-School and Primary School is a member of the Orchard Academy Trust family of schools and is made up of Allington Primary School and Barming Pre-School and Primary School. We cater for 2 - 11 year olds. It is a well-equipped two-form entry primary school serving the village of Barming (and surrounding areas) on the edge of Maidstone. We have approximately 466 children in purpose built accommodation, including shared resource and work areas, corridor libraries and a computer suite. Our school has a large site which provides admirably for our social and academic work.
