Advert

Garlinge Primary School and Nursery currently has a vacancy for an enthusiastic, dedicated and experienced teacher to lead our Specialist Resource Provision for children with Autism (ASC) on a Maternity Cover contract. This is a fantastic opportunity for a practitioner with SEND expertise to use their skills, vision and drive in a purpose-built new learning environment in which children with Autism can thrive and reach their potential.

Our SRP is a purpose-built new classroom supporting up to 16 children with Autism and the SRP Lead Teacher is supported by a dedicated HLTA and TA. The pupils in the SRP need high-quality individualised support and a successful transition programme. We require a commitment to delivering an outstanding level of Teaching and Learning and a rich and enjoyable curriculum.

At Garlinge we pride ourselves on our inclusivity and the SRP is a valued and integrated part of our mainstream provision. As such the lead teacher also supports colleagues through the school with Autism training and resources.

If you would like to visit our school please email the HR Officer on ashbyc@garlinge.kent.sch.uk to make an appointment for a tour of our large site.

Our school website also features a comprehensive video tour of the school which gives a fantastic representation of a typical day at Garlinge plus a wealth of information relating to policies, values and standards.

CVs will not be accepted so please complete the application form in full and explain how your skills and experience make you a suitable candidate for the role.

Formal interviews will take place on Thursday 12 October with a panel comprising members of the SLT and the SENDCo. You will also be required to deliver an activity to a group of children from the SRP designed to develop their social skills.

Garlinge Primary School and Nursery is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Our Safeguarding Policy is available on the school website.

Shortlisted candidates will be subject to online checks following Keeping Children Safe in Education 2023. The interviewee will also be asked questions relating to the safeguarding of children.

We are also committed to championing staff wellbeing and all employees can access free counselling, occupational health support and supervision sessions.

This post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service and a check against the ISA Barred List for Children, two satisfactory references and right to work in the UK documentation.

If applicants have not been contacted by Tuesday 10 October they have been unsuccessful on this occasion.
