Woodard Academies Trust are seeking an experienced clerk for the Academy Council at St Augustine Academy in Maidstone, Kent.

Effective local governance is vital for an effective academy and the post holder will play a key role in clerking and supporting the work of the Academy Council.

Working closely with the Chair of the Council, you will prepare agendas, take and prepare minutes for the full council meetings and all sub-committees.   You will organise meetings and undertake administration and through your knowledge of governance good practice, you will advise and guide the Chair and councillors in their role. You will also arrange and clerk appeal hearings as required.

You will liaise effectively with the Trust’s central team ensuring consistency of approach throughout the Trust. Induction training and ongoing advice and support will be provided.

• You will be confident and professional with excellent administrative skills and a flexible ‘can-do’ attitude.

• Knowledge and experience of school governance is an advantage

• Meetings usually take place in the early evening  at the academy and the post is flexible in that post holders can work mainly from home to produce the minutes, agendas etc.
