St. John’s is excited to announce that we are looking to recruit a talented and dynamic Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our excellent and friendly team. This position will predominantly be providing class support and PPA cover within KS1 and Lower KS2.

St John’s is a Single Academy Trust with Voluntary Aided status. We welcome candidates who value our Christian ethos while contributing individual flair to our evolving school.

Candidates are expected to be a skilled communicators, positive, professional, fun and caring.  Experience in supporting children with specific learning difficulties, the general teaching assistant class role as well as teaching the whole class/PPA cover is required.

We are looking for someone who:

  • will support and scaffold children’s learning and development both in and out of the classroom
  • has the ability to build excellent relationships with children, colleagues and parents
  • has knowledge of how to develop the whole child
  • is confident to work independently and can use their initiative
  • enjoys working as part of a team
  • experienced in whole class teaching in absence of the class teacher
  • holds the minimum qualifications of English and Mathematics GCSEs (A-C) /equivalent.

The post available is for approximately 26 hours per week (full-time), term time only, 38 weeks pro-rata, and is a permanent position paid within the KR6 range.

Information about the school

St. John’s School is a very successful ‘stand-alone’ two form entry Church of England Primary Academy. We have an excellent reputation in our community as a school where our pupils enjoy a nurturing, respectful, fun and friendly place to learn. We take pride in our high achievements and as a school we are passionate about the environment; this has been recognised by Eco Schools through being awarded the prestigious Green Flag.

We opened in September 1987 and serve primarily the Grove Green and Bearsted Park areas. Our most recent full Ofsted inspection (July 2015) rated us Outstanding in all areas; in 2019 we were also rated highly in our Church Schools inspection as well as by Ofsted in their inspection of our History curriculum.
