Barming Primary School has a fantastic opportunity for an Office Assistant at our busy school.

This is a part-time position for 3 days a week - Wednesday, Thursday and Friday and term time only. 

The successful applicant should be friendly, enthusiastic and hardworking.   They will be the face of Barming Primary School and will ensure a warm and bubbly welcoming, professional reception to all children, parents, carers, staff and visitors.   Excellent customer service and communication skills are essential.

In addition, candidates will need to be positive, highly confidential with all matters, have a professional attitude and be well organised. They will be the first point of call for all visitors to the school office as well as for any incoming calls.   Excellent typing skills, knowledge of relevant computer software and a good level of education, including GCSE English and Maths, are essential. The post requires the ability to be methodical, organised and the ability to prioritise work within a busy environment.

We wish to appoint someone who has:

  • Experience of working within an office environment, essentially a school setting.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A friendly, flexible and professional approach, particularly when multi-tasking under pressure.
  • A good working knowledge of office systems such as Microsoft Word/Excel
  • A working knowledge of Scholar Pack (Cloud based MIS for Primary Schools) is a significant advantage, although training and support will be provided to the suitable candidate.
  • The ability to prioritise workload to ensure office systems operate efficiently for the smooth running of the school.
  • You will have a positive approach to working with children and a commitment to our safeguarding procedures.

Barming Pre-School and Primary School is a member of the Orchard Academy Trust family of schools and is made up of Allington Primary School and Barming Pre-School and Primary School. We cater for 2 - 11 year olds. It is a well-equipped two-form entry primary school serving the village of Barming (and surrounding areas) on the edge of Maidstone. We have approximately 466 children in purpose built accommodation, including shared resource and work areas, corridor libraries and a computer suite. Our school has a large site which provides admirably for our social and academic work.
