Job Title:          Pastoral Support Mentor

Location:          Heath Farm School, Charing Heath, Ashford, Kent

Salary:              £22,000 per annum

Hours:              37.5 hours per week; Monday to Friday 8.30 – 16.30

Contract:          Permanent, Term Time only

Job Purpose

To be the first referral point for pastoral issues concerning students in your Pod, supporting students with both reactionary and proactive interventions in order to support them to engage in their learning and working with the class team and department lead to explore best ways of supporting students.

Main Duties

In relation to students within your Pod:

  • Demonstrate a commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils, ensuring that pupil wellbeing is the focus of all actions undertaken in the role.
  • Assist with the pastoral care of pupils, ensuring that the school meets all pupils’ personal and social needs.
  • Provide one-to-one pastoral support to pupils, where necessary.
  • Work with staff members and parents in order to remove practical, social and emotional barriers to learning.

Essential

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold GCSEs or equivalent qualification in at least English and Maths.

The successful candidate will have experience of:

  • Undertaking relevant and effective CPD.
  • Developing and delivering individual and group-based support to pupils. 
  • Working with pupils with behavioural issues.
  • Supporting pupils’ SMEH needs.
  • Implementing behaviour management strategies.
