JOB OVERVIEW

At St Augustine Academy, we are looking for a passionate Physical Education teacher to deliver high quality lessons while successfully nurturing and inspiring our students. As part of our energetic and welcoming team, you will enthuse and motivate students to strive for success while maintaining a healthy learning environment for all children within the school.  This includes a full extra curricular programme of clubs and fixtures in Maidstone and the surrounding area.  You will need to be able to teach both theory and practical at a GCSE/ Vocational level.

About the role

You will be joining a well-established and friendly team of specialist teachers of Physical Education who work collaboratively to ensure quality first teaching is the priority for all students. Teachers of Physical teach both KS3 and KS4 in practical and theory context.

As a school we are proud to offer our KS3 students timetabled enrichment each week. All staff are expected to offer an activity for this Enrichment which could be related to the teacher’s specialist subject or an area in which they are passionate about. This is an excellent opportunity for both staff and students to benefit from a wider curriculum and gives an opportunity for staff to promote our school ethos with students beyond the boundaries of their classrooms.

This role will also include being responsible for the pastoral care of a Mentor group.

About our School

St Augustine Academy is a non-selective 11-16 school in Maidstone, Kent which benefits from excellent resources and an exciting and vibrant learning environment. We are currently graded Ofsted Good which we achieved in February 2018.

Our Academy has a calm purposeful atmosphere. We strive to broaden horizons and challenge our students to achieve their potential. We offer a rigorous academic curriculum, a strong behaviour policy and a wide ranging enrichment programme.

The Academy believes in offering a broad and balanced curriculum which includes a comprehensive Enrichment Program where students have the opportunity to choose an activity to further their personal interests.

We are committed to continual CPD and a positive work life balance for staff. We offer additional training days, support staff to complete additional qualifications and remove unnecessary workload. Staff are fully involved in developing Academy policies.

We are one of six Academies which make up the Woodard Academies Trust (WAT). WAT is part of the Woodard family of schools. Created by founder Nathaniel Woodard in 1848, Woodard is the largest group of independent Church of England schools in England and Wales. Woodard Academies Trust and Woodard Schools share a common ethos and vision: to inspire young people to make a difference.

Our ethos reflects our deep commitment to delivering an outstanding education to the students we teach. We prioritise inclusion and value individuals, and excel in delivering pastoral care and personalised learning paths for our students. Our aim is to offer students not only a first-class education, but also to teach them life skills that will provide benefits beyond their time with us. We believe that our academies should enrich the communities they serve and play an active role in their development.

Candidates applying must be eligible to work in the UK
