Are you looking for a new challenge? Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with their development and learning? Are you keen to develop new skills? Come and join our fantastic team at First Leap Nursery. We are looking for 2 qualified nursery nurses from September.

First Leap Nursery is the specialist observation and assessment nursery for Thanet, based at Foreland Fields School. Pre-school children with identified special needs are referred through the local Specialist Teaching Service or Portage Service to receive specialist interventions either on or off site. Nursery staff are responsible for carrying out the observations and assessments required for statutory assessment and to ensure that all pupils receive the appropriate provision in Year R. First Leap also provides specialist advice, training and support for families and mainstream nurseries.

We are looking for candidates with a NNEB or equivalent Early Years qualification at Level 3 or above. We provide all staff with a full week of induction training, which includes Moving and Handling, Makaton, Pool Evacuation, Behaviour and Safeguarding Training. We are committed to providing aspirational outcomes for all our students and we will provide regular specialist training for all staff. Essential training for Nursery staff takes place on Thursdays and all staff are required to attend this as well as 5 INSET days per year.

Nursery staff work from 8.30 am until 3.45 pm daily. Training ends at 4.45 pm on alternate Thursdays.

Information about the school

Foreland Fields School is a Day Special School for pupils with Profound, Severe and Complex Needs (PSCN), many of whom also have Autistic Spectrum Disorder.

We provide for 200+ pupils aged 3-19 in five departments, Nursery, Infants, Juniors (KS2) Secondary (KS3) and KS4/6th Form. In addition, we have satellite classes at Garlinge Primary School, Hartsdown Academy and East Kent College.
