We are seeking an enthusiastic, forward-thinking colleague with energy, intellectual capacity and determination to support the leadership of our successful English Department and make a difference to the lives, aspirations and opportunities of our young people.

The successful applicant will be an experienced Teacher with specialist knowledge of English and be committed to on-going professional development.   With a positive attitude and resilient nature, you will have demonstrable experience in taking the lead on specific projects and proven strategies for ensuring student progress and outcomes. As Deputy Subject Leader you will assist the Subject Leader in leading a team of 10 accomplished professionals with the support of a dedicated member of our Strategic Leadership Team.

As Deputy Subject Leader you would have strategic overview of a key stage within the department. We would like the successful candidate to influence the development of key areas within the curriculum as well as bring a fresh perspective and insight to the initiatives that we already run. We have made significant changes to our Key Stage Three curriculum over the past year and would like new staff to be instrumental to shaping and collaborating on our new, diverse, forward thinking schemes of work. The students are at the heart of everything we do as a collaborative department but, as a leader it is anticipated that the successful candidate would be able to support and develop the pedagogy and practice of the less experienced members of the department.

The English department at Brompton Academy is a team of welcoming, supportive and collaborative people. They are committed to working together for the best interests of the pupils and for the well-being of our staff. Working collaboratively, sharing ideas and best practice and always maintaining the feeling of working as a ‘team’ rather than just a ‘department’. Our English colleagues enjoy challenging students and encouraging them to develop a love of language and literature. You will be helping to lead a very proactive team who set high standards for our students and try to always motivate them to do their best and show them that their potential may be even higher than they thought.  The department makes good use of its links with the University of Kent and take part in events such as the Lecture series at GCSE and Creative Writing workshops at KS3.
