We are seeking a highly motivated Intensive Support Advisor to join an excellent, nurturing and supportive secondary school. This role is vital to ensuring students receive the support they need to excel to their maximum potential. You will be effective in providing emotional wellbeing and safeguarding advice to students and families in need and support and refer to our Designated Safeguarding Lead. This is a maternity cover for up to one year and we are hoping that a handover will be possible to go through the role with the current post holder.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individual one to one sessions, through a referral system, to students who are experiencing emotional difficulties, at risk of disengagement or vulnerability.

On average you will see 4 students a day which will give time to complete additional work and planning per student and will offer 6-8 sessions per student which can be reviewed if further sessions are required. The DSL will support your decisions with your caseload and help you to work through any more complex cases.

• Work collaboratively as part of a friendly and supportive team, with teachers, support staff, parents and external agencies to ensure that students receive appropriate support and sign posting.

• Responsible for managing referrals to the NELFT Emotional Wellbeing Practitioners and meeting with them termly, as well as referring on to the NELFT Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service for the more at risk young people.

• You will also be the lead practitioner with The Rosewood, a local health school that takes short term placements for students at St Augustine. This will include completing referrals for placements and visiting any of our students based there and offering them intensive support onsite.

• Maintain accurate records of all sessions and interventions and complete termly caseload updates for your line manager.

• Attend termly supervision sessions to support the managing of your caseload for your own wellbeing and to seek advice from another mental health practitioner regarding the cases you are working with.

Requirements:

Desirable

• Have previous experience of providing mental health support to young people.

• Have a good understanding of the challenges and pressures facing young people in today's society.
