Due to the retirement of our long standing SENCO, an exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated SENCO to join our team. We are looking for someone with a passion for working with vulnerable children to ensure they receive the very best education they deserve.

The successful candidate will bring an innovative and creative approach to supporting the strategic direction and development of SEND provision across our school, whilst effectively managing and developing the progress and achievement of our pupils.

Applicants should possess excellent communication and organisational skills, be hardworking, dedicated and professional.  They should have high expectations of students, colleagues and self, displaying energy and enthusiasm and be able to contribute to the school’s overall success.

No day is ever the same for our SENCO, so the successful candidate will be adaptable, flexible, resourceful and passionate, enabling our children to be the best they can be.

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Hold QTS
  • Hold the National Award for SENCO qualification or be willing to complete this
  • Be a strong leader, who is committed to providing the highest standards of provision for SEND students
  • Be fully committed to our school and our ethos
  • Have an excellent understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and procedures
  • Be an excellent practitioner with high expectations and a commitment to raising standards
  • Have up-to-date knowledge of current teaching practices and safeguarding legislation
  • Have the ability to support and overview the work of teaching assistants working with SEN children
  • Be able to demonstrate effective communication skills with all members of the school community
  • Be a skilled and experienced teacher with exemplary classroom practice, and the skills to be able to coach and develop this within others
  • Be able to lead, motivate and inspire others to achieve excellence
  • Have some teaching responsibility and take on subject leadership
  • Have the ability to manage any instances of challenging behaviour
  • Be our Designated Safeguarding Lead
