Advert

Teacher of Drama and/or Music (MPS/UPS)

 Start date:  1 September 2023

Would you like to work in a “harmonious community” where “pupils are keen to learn and respectful to all”? (Ofsted, November 2021). Would you like to work at a forward thinking Grammar School providing students an opportunity to improve their life chances? Do you want to work in a supportive environment with the possibility of progression?  If so, then Borden may be the school for you.

We are looking for a passionate and committed drama or music teacher, as there is the flexibility to largely tailor this role around the successful candidate's preferences. Drama and music is taught to all students in KS3 and has small but committed groups studying GCSE courses. We are, however, very keen to expand the number of students taking drama or music at the school and the successful candidate would be supported in pursuing this exciting journey with us. Students wishing to continue their study of drama or music at KS5 can undertake this at our partner school. The successful candidate would be expected to show their commitment to extracurricular activities and contribute to enriching students’ experiences beyond the classroom. They will also show an enthusiasm to forge close links with your colleagues in other departments, particularly those in the arts.

This is a post for a passionate teacher who is committed to achieving high standards in all areas of school life and can demonstrate the potential to contribute a great deal to the future development of Borden Grammar School. The successful candidate should be confident that Borden is both an exciting and supportive place to work.

Application process

The closing date is 4.00pm on Friday 21 April although the school reserves the right to consider the merit of early applications and close the advert earlier if required.  Candidates will be invited in for interview and the selection process will involve a combination of tasks, interviews with students and senior staff.  Visits are encouraged and can be arranged via Miss Phillips, Head of Performing Arts by contacting aphillips@bordengrammar.kent.sch.uk

If you would like to apply please return a fully completed application form (leaving no gaps in employment)  to Ms Lara Bateman lbateman@bordengrammarschool.kent.sch.uk . Please do not provide a CV however you may provide a letter of application as a continuation of the application form.
