The role

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity in a role that you can make your own within a flourishing school?

We are looking for a Welfare, Medical & Inclusion Officer to join our team to assist our existing SEN, pastoral and attendance teams as they work to support vulnerable and challenging students, and their families, in mainstream school life. This will include being assigned to individual students for emotional support, checking in on students through the school day, providing a drop in facility for those students, meeting their parents at school or on home visits with other staff.

About You

You will be working alongside our teachers and support staff, so you will need to be pro-active, organised, enthusiastic and able to use your initiative. Good time keeping and the ability to present yourself professionally are essential. This role would suit someone with experience of working in a school or youth work, experience of coaching or someone who wants to work in a school before going into teacher training or a teaching assistant role. Experience is useful but we are also open to recent graduates/training leavers with the right attitude and ability to learn.

As part of a busy school environment, the ability to deal with pupils and parents, in a polite and helpful manner is essential.  You must be mature and understand about the importance of confidentiality and safeguarding in taking on such a role.  People are more important than posts to us so if you think you would fit into an upbeat and diverse team and enjoy the fact that no two days are the same, we may be able to offer your ideal role.

Information about the school

Wye School has a vision of excellence, a vision shared by all staff and students. Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted in 2018, the school is dedicated to ensuring each student gains the knowledge, confidence and skills to make a success of their future lives. The school caters for Years 7 -13 with a roll of 600, housed in a new building situated in the beautiful Kent Downs countryside, offering an outstanding environment for staff and students. The first GCSE results in 2018 were above average for Progress 8 and above national average Attainment 8, and followed by an equally strong second set of results in 2019. Students are well behaved and hard working and our staff form a friendly and committed team. As the smallest local secondary school, great pride is taken in strong relationships internally and with parents and the community.

Located within close proximity of Wye village centre, the school is at the very heart of the local community and has the potential to grow into a truly exceptional school. Wye is perfectly located to enjoy the Kent countryside, whilst still being within an hour of London thanks to HS1.
