Advert

Ideally we would be looking for a qualified or unqualified candidate who is passionate about Art and Design. They could be looking to explore working in art education, be currently developing their own art practice or have experience working with children and have a keen interest in the arts.

We are looking for someone proactive and intuitive who is able to understand the needs of the students at St Anthony’s and support them with their varied creative processes throughout each school day.

They would have an interest in painting, print making, sculpture and drawing and be keen to experiment with these processes and make them accessible to the students at St Anthony’s.

The prospective art technician/TA would support the art teacher and students by organising the resources for a range of different lessons, preparing materials in advance of lessons and displaying the artwork across the school. They will be working closely with the art teacher and assist with the reprographics and ICT administration, ensuring the well-organised storage of materials, equipment and students work.

They would have a clear understanding of what is needed for lessons and for students to make the best out of the time they have in the art room.

They would ideally have experience working in a school, know how to handle art materials safely and should be flexible and creative in their approach.

They should be keen and willing to support the art teacher on art trips around Margate and in London. Looking forward the prospective art technician/TA would support the art teacher to display students work appropriately for exhibitions in school and around Margate. Any experience relating to this would be a bonus.

Information about the school

St. Anthony’s is a designated KCC special school for pupils with an EHCP with a main need of SEMH and/or ASC in KS2 -KS4. We are a partner school in Kent Special Educational Needs Trust.

The school works to meet and support a wide range of barriers to learning. Our children and young people have high levels of social emotional issues and communication difficulties, staff need to be able to build positive relationships with them and provide a diverse and stimulating education, in a supportive and safe environment.

Most pupils come to the school with negative previous school experiences and traditionally from a background with high levels of deprivation. To achieve positive outcomes for our pupils we place a great deal of emphasis on individual programmes within small group settings. Past OfSTED reports, parental feedback and other professionals agree that we are very successful with our pupils; our skills in building positive relationships with children and young people helps us reinforce this message.
