Are you an enthusiastic individual who wants to support children in their learning or maybe you are considering Teaching as a career and want to get some primary school experience before you start your training?

If so, Goat Lees has the perfect opportunity for you!               

We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant in Lower KS2 to join us at Goat Lees as soon as possible. We are a popular primary school where we take pride in being being ‘At the Heart of the Community’.

This position is initially temporary until 31/8/23 and will include working on a 1:1 basis or supporting small groups, however, you would also be required to work under the Class Teacher's direction to support all children within the whole class setting.

Hours will be 32.5 per week, term time only preferably from 8:30am to 3:30pm daily although some flexibility may be possible for the right candidate.  Additional hours may be available to support the delivery of our wide range of extra-curricular clubs both before and after school.

We need a Teaching Assistant who:

  • can be flexible and use own initiative
  • is willing to support children in a variety of situations dependent on the needs of the children
  • is enthusiastic and committed to working with children
  • is competent in basic English and Maths skills
  • Is a graduate and plans to move into teaching or is someone who holds NVQ/CACHE Level 2 or equivalent qualifications and/or has relevant experience

A further advantage, although not essential, would be:

  • experience of specific programmes or interventions including Speech, Language & Communication/Maths & English support/behaviour support
  • First Aid or experience of supporting children with individual care needs
  • willingness to provide some additional support to our Breakfast Club

Goat Lees Primary School is a one form entry Primary School which opened in September 2013. This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a special learning environment that aims to be at the ‘Heart of the Community’. As a member of the CARE Foundation Trust, we work closely with nine other primary schools across the Ashford District to provide support and opportunities for collaboration across our schools.

Our innovative building has been designed by a collaboration of experienced local headteachers and a nationally nominated architectural company which has created a beautiful space in which to stimulate learning. We have further enhanced our facilities by building a performing arts room with a large outdoor stage as part of our commitment to providing a broad and balanced curriculum.

At Goat Lees, we pride ourselves on ensuring that we have done the very best for all our children and work together to bring out the best in everyone. Our staff, governors, children and parents are all incredibly proud of our achievements and our most recent Ofsted report (January 2020) concluded Goat Lees Primary School continues to be a good school.
