Cross Keys Learning is a developing and growing organisation and are recruiting dynamic experienced Teaching Assistant for our Womenswold site. As part of our current growth, we are recruiting highly motivated and enthusiastic individuals who can relate to students who have struggled within a mainstream setting and need a more nurturing environment, such as Cross Keys Learning.

Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate a wide range of Teaching Assistant skills, especially with SEN students. We are seeking passionate and resourceful individuals who are highly motivated, enthusiastic and who can relate to our students.

You will be expected to support the teaching staff on a day-to-day basis and be able to demonstrate strengths in meeting the SEN needs of our young people. The role will also include general classroom/one to one student support.

Cross Keys Learning are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect ALL staff to share this commitment. Our approach to safer recruitment means the successful candidate will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check, and full reference checks with previous employers will be conducted.

Information about the school

Cross Keys Learning is a small independent school for SEN students (aged 11 to 17), where both high levels of academic progress and personal development for students is consistently strived for. We are situated in both Broadstairs and Womenswold. We take great pride in creating a warm and friendly environment and a positive culture for learning so that our students are given opportunities to excel. We place great emphasis on the social and emotional development of our students, alongside the encouragement of a love for learning so they can achieve their full potential academically and are ready for the world beyond. High emphasis is placed on student and staff well-being to make Cross Keys Learning a great place to both learn, and work.

We are an established and well-respected provision, rated GOOD by Ofsted and on a journey to improve further. Our provision is designed to offer learning within small groups (5-8 per group) and we offer a broad and balanced curriculum.

Our student cohort includes a diverse range of needs, and our approach reflects this. We support:

Students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) or social and communication difficulties, who may require structured support and consistent routines

Students experiencing high levels of school-based anxiety or school refusal

Students significantly behind age-related expectations (ARE), due to cognitive needs or disrupted/negative school experiences, who benefit from a tailored or alternative curriculum

Students with low self-esteem or confidence, particularly around learning, who require positive relationships, encouragement, and a nurturing environment to rebuild their self-belief

Our role is to create an inclusive, adaptive learning environment that meets these individual needs and promotes progress, wellbeing, and engagement where all students are listened to and their needs are truly heard. By fostering personal growth and development, we aim to empower our students to thrive both in school and in life, ensuring they are equipped with the skills, resilience, and independence needed to succeed in a changing world.
