Information about the school

Joining us at Hayesbrook Academy: Hayesbrook Academy first opened in 1964. Having always been an all-boys school, our history before then is closely linked to the old Sussex Road Boys School, where records go back to the early 1900’s, and so we have a strong tradition of education provision in Tonbridge. The modern day academy has always been an 11-18 comprehensive school with a mixed sixth form, serving the local community.

Since being the first school in West Kent to gain Academy Status in 2010, the academy led the way in achieving excellent standards and in creating a multi-academy Trust. We were graded ‘Excellent’ by Ofsted in 2005, 2008 and 2009. The academic success and high standards have continued and inspections in 2013 and again in 2017 found the school to be ‘Good’ with ‘Outstanding’ features and praised for its leadership and continued commitment to improvement of educational standards as well as students’ achievement.

Hayesbrook Academy grows, adapts and thrives with each new cohort of students that are welcomed here every September and our recent move to Leigh Academies Trust has strengthened the academy’s ability to deliver the very best for our pupils.

Vision and values: At Hayesbrook Academy, our core values of integrity, courage and imagination underpin all that we do. Our mission is to teach those that we have the privilege to care for to do the right thing, to make courageous choices and to ignite their curiosity and imagination.

Our small school model ensures we know every child, value and nurture them whilst challenging them to succeed. We look to shape their lives by ensuring they leave us with the qualifications and skills they need to maximise every opportunity, both personally and professionally.

We are committed to developing reflective and resilient learners; individuals who can work both independently and collaboratively to overcome challenges, are confident critical thinkers and ready to embrace the future challenges of the modern world.

"Hayesbrook is about to embark on an exciting journey as it prepares to become the Leigh Academy Tonbridge in September 2023, at this point we will be opening as a mixed academy welcoming both girls and boys in a non-selective, secular academy. Please take the time to visit the Leigh Academy Tonbridge website if you are interested in visiting the academy as a prospective student or parent.

Core values of integrity, courage and imagination underpin all that we do. We are unrelenting in our mission to teach those that we have the privilege to care for to do the right thing, to make courageous choices and to ignite their curiosity and imagination. Our students will leave the academy with the qualifications and skills to access the very best universities, apprenticeships and careers to which they aspire." - Principal Michael Crow
