We are seeking to appoint a 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide additional support for a Year 3 child with a hearing impairment; to help them excel in all areas of school life.

This is a maternity cover post, five days a week.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with pupils with SEN and delivering interventions, or someone willing to train.
  • Has a strong belief in inclusion, diversity and the right of each child to be successful whatever their needs, abilities and background.
  • Is able to work well as a team member whilst using their initiative and working independently when required.
  • Is flexible, hardworking and highly reliable with excellent communication skills.
  • Is determined to provide the very best outcomes for the children they work with.
  • Uses their good sense of humour to maintain positive relationships with pupils, colleagues and parents
  • Have a good understanding of numeracy, literacy and ICT.
  • Have GCSE English and Maths grade C or equivalent. 
  • Preferably have a Teaching Assistant Qualification (NVQ level 2 as a minimum), or equivalent.

Information about the school

We are a Church of England school, situated in the beautiful village of Wittersham, 4 miles from Tenterden, set in beautiful rural surroundings, backing onto farmland. The school has strong ties to the local community and St John's Church. Our lovely school buildings date from 1874 with the new, purpose built, classroom extension opened in December 2000. We have a roll of 140 children in five mixed-age classes.
