Advert

Cage Green is looking for someone with sense, drive and excellent writing skills to join our SEN team as SENCo Assistant.  This person will work closely with the Inclusion Manager to support her in managing the provision for pupils identified as having SEN, both in mainstream and within the Phoenix Centre for Autism.  This role is largely office based, although some contact with children will be required.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Using information provided by the Inclusion Manager to write reports and referrals
  • Seeking opportunities for funding through bids or applications.
  • Under the guidance of the Inclusion Manger, completing referrals for children to external agencies
  • Supporting parents to fill in paperwork
  • Sending out reports and correspondence and collating replies
  • Overseeing systems within school such as the timely completion of children’s individual plans
  • Keeping track of the progress of processes and chasing agencies to ensure timely responses.

Excellent writing skills, including accurate grammar and punctuation, are essential. We will look for evidence of this in the application form.  Full training in the role will be given so no prior experience of SEN is necessary although experience working in a school would be advantageous.  We are looking for the right candidate with the right mindset rather than particular experiences.

At Cage Green, we think we can change the world.  Some of our children come from difficult backgrounds and we regard school as the opportunity for them to have a bright future.  Our SEN children are at the heart of what we do and the rewards of working with these children and their families are fabulous.  We are a team of positive, noisy and excellent practitioners who have been on a journey and are now a good school.  The children’s behaviour is great and they are enthusiastic and willing to learn.  We are working hard to make sure they achieve their full potential and we are looking for team members who have the drive to ensure our children achieve their best.  Passionate leadership; friendly, team-focused staff and a learning environment ripe for development mean that Cage Green is an exciting place to be.  We want staff who have something to say and can help us drive our school forwards.

If you think this role sounds like you, you need to have a chat with our Inclusion Manager, Vicki Maher.  Please send her an email on senco@cage-green.kent.sch.uk or ask to speak to her on 01732 354325.  She will be happy to arrange a tour of the school where you can meet the team or to tell you more about the role over the phone.
