Specialist Speech and Language Therapist - Complex Needs and Dysphagia 

Required as soon as possible  

Salary - PO1 point 27 - 37 - £31,895 - £41,592FTE (equivalent to band 6 - 7)

Starting at  PO1 point 32 - £36,372 - actual salary - £31,561 

Hours: 37 hours per week, 39 weeks per year (term time)  

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Speech and Language Therapist who is developing  an existing specialism in working with children with complex learning needs. You will need to be creative, driven and be aspirational in your desire for children to achieve. 

Danecourt is a special school catering for primary age children who have special educational needs. At Danecourt our mission is to provide all pupils with a “stimulating learning environment where every individual is valued, respected, safe and successful”. All pupils receive a personalised curriculum tailored to meet their specific needs.

You will be working with our Occupational Therapist, Behavioural Specialist, and Therapies Assistant to deliver you expertise within our primary-aged Special School. The role will require liaison with our NHS Therapy team and collaborating closely with the teaching team also.  

You will be responsible for developing the children’s communication needs across the school, implementing the use of low, lite and high AAC, amongst a range of other communication strategies that embody a special school Total (inclusive) communication approach. Experience of delivering universal, specialist and targeted strategies is essential, as well as delivering training to parents, class and whole school teams. 

Basic dysphagia training is essential to support a small but growing number of children in our school who have assessed/known feeding difficulties.

Supervision will be provided by our Highly Specialist Speech and Language Therapist.
