£18,546 - £20,344 PRO-RATA (£21,563 - £23654 FTE) SAT 6

37 hours per week, over 5 days. Term time only, plus 5 staff development days plus additional 10 days to be worked during the holidays.

We are seeking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Senior Science Technician. Experience in the methodology of standard practicals is essential, along with awareness of the Health & Safety requirements of the role.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be responsible for ensuring that a safe, effective and efficient laboratory technical service is provided for use by students and teaching staff. 
  • Provide technical advice and assistance in the classroom to support students and to assist teaching staff.
  • Coordinate the use and development of practical resources and facilities within the science department.
  • Assist the head of department in the line management of all science technicians including their induction, training and performance management.
  • Ensure that health and safety requirements and other relevant regulations are in place and adhered to, including the completion and recording of necessary tasks.

The ideal candidate will be a team player with a forward thinking approach, have excellent organisational skills with the ability to work under pressure and be receptive to change.
