Advert

Are you an enthusiastic teacher? Do you have strong a driving passion to “make a difference”? As a result  one of our teachers gaining promotion we have a vacancy for Key Stage 2 teacher to join our staff team from September.

Cheriton is a successful school on the edge of Folkestone and, has high academic expectations, is inclusive of all children and can offer you experience of working in a multi-lingual environment where adults and children have fun.

The school has large grounds, bespoke forest school and a culture of creating memories for children as we always like to have "something to look forward to"! Our children are well behaved, energetic, honest, kind and come from a range of cultures and experiences. At Cheriton, diversity is celebrated in many ways and children learn to be part of a very inclusive community.

We can offer experienced NQT mentors (if applicable), a large staff team to offer support and listen when needed, a school that is well resourced with a leadership that strive for all staff to have a healthy balance between work and home life along with Benenden Health Care cover provided for all staff.

All we ask is that you enjoy working with children, have a good knowledge of the primary curriculum and want to invest in the development of our children so that they gain the skills to meet their potential both here with us and in their future educational journey.

Information about the school

Cheriton Primary School, a two form entry school, is situated on the outskirts of Folkestone. The school serves a diverse community including an army barracks which is home to the 2nd Battalion Royal Gurkha Rifles alongside children who come to our school from across the Folkestone district.

As a member of the co operative movement (The Vicus Trust) we hold the values of self help, self responsibility, democracy, equality & solidarity at the centre of all we do in school.

The staff at the school work hard to ensure that the children make great progress but also that the children always have something on the horizon to look forward to, they are committed to developing a passion for learning in every child who attends the school.

The school was inspected in October 2019 and judged to be a continuing good school with many outstanding aspects with the inspectors celebrating the diverse nature of the school, strong parent and community links and a wide and stimulating curriculum. The inspector commented that "this is a school where children do really come first."

On a weekly basis it is common to have a large number of parent volunteers working in the school, adult learning classes on site, international tea afternoons, a Brownie pack using the school facilities as well as sports, arts and cultural activities for the children in school.

We have a large Forest School area on our site where children from Year R to Year 6 develop confidence in laying fires, building shelters, making bug houses and become aware of conservation issues as part of that core offer.

The school has been accredited with the Excellence in Literacy Award, the Quality in Extended Schools and The Parent Partnership Award.

Additionally, the school funds Benenden Health Care cover for all staff members.
