PURPOSE OF JOB

On behalf of the Academy Trust, the Nursery Supervisor will be responsible for the development and daily management of the Nursery, providing a safe, caring and stimulating environment for children 2-5 years of age.

  • To ensure a high standard of personal, social and child centred care and education.
  • To build links and work in partnership with parents, carers and professionals to promote the well-being of the children.
  • To deputise for the Manager/Nursery Teacher, as appropriate
  • To work as a part of a team in order to provide an enabling environment in which all children can learn, play and develop.

Duties and Responsibilities

To act as a key person for a group of children and to assist and lead planning of safe, creative and appropriate learning opportunities, engaging the children’s interests.

  • To manage and maintain, positive and safe behaviour for children.
  • To conduct and keep continuous observations and records of children and complete developmental records, including Learning Journals, share with parents/carers, Nursery Manager and EYFS Leader.
  • Ensure Learning Journeys are updated, with accurate and relevant information about the children’s activities and development.
  • Feed into appraisals, target setting and nursery operations as deemed appropriate by EYFS Leader and Nursery Manager.
  • Support all team members with early identification and intervention for children with special needs.
  • To participate in EYFS staff meetings, events, parent’s evenings and training.
