St Augustine's Primary School

Local Area

Hythe is part of the Folkestone and Hythe District Council area, formally known as Shepway and is one of the original Cinque Ports. It is situated between the south side of the North Downs, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (ANOB) and the English Channel coastline. Our school takes pupils from Lydd in the West to Folkestone in the East.

The area is well connected to the rest of Kent, England and Europe by motorway and train links. 3 stations in the area offer a fast link train connection to London while another 2 have connecting services to the south east region of Kent. Channel crossing facilities are also nearby with the channel tunnel terminal just north of Folkestone and Dover, 16 miles away, has ferry services to France.

The parish is served by Fr. Jim Teeling at the Hythe RC church of Our Lady of Good Counsel, which through the Catholic faith offers the community a variety of social and spiritual support. Tel. no. 01303 773101 hythe@rcaos.org.uk
