Greatstone Primary School

Local Area

We are a well-maintained rural school set in large open grounds close to the sandy beaches of the south east coast and the unique landscape and nature reserve at Dungeness.

The school is located only 30 minutes’ drive from the well-connected Ashford International station. It connects several railway lines including the High speed and South Eastern main line. A trip from London to Ashford International will take approximately 37 minutes on the high-speed train making it extremely easy to travel in and out of London.

Just 10 minutes away is Dungeness, a unique site of special scientific interest, with a world-renowned diversity of flora, fauna and bird life. Dungeness has a remarkable variety of wildlife with over 600 different types of plant and the RSPB Reserve attracts many varieties of migrating birds. It is said to be the strange land of extremes and one of the most valuable yet vulnerable conservation sites in Great Britain.

Greatstone lies on the edge of the Romney Marsh, close to the Cinque Port town of New Romney. The area offers a variety of leisure, such as golf, cycling, sailing, kite surfing, bird watching, walking, fishing and the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway. These outdoor activities will keep you active at the weekend and perfect for spending time with the family.

Housing is relatively well priced and there are several pre-schools, primary, secondary, Kent Grammar schools and Academies within the area. There are also several active churches and worshipping groups in the area.

With the Eurotunnel & Dover just 45 minutes away we consider ourselves to be on Europe’s doorstep!  We consider ourselves very lucky to live where others choose to holiday!
