Local Area

Deal is situated on the Kent coast between Dover and Sandwich, within easy reach of Canterbury and Folkestone. Sholden Village is on the immediate outskirts of the town.

The historic seafront at Deal boasts two Castles and a pier, whilst the town centre offers an excellent blend of small local shops and cafes as well as a number of high street stores. There are 2 weekly markets: a farmers market and the long established Saturday Market, both offering a wide variety of stalls and produce.

Historically, Deal was a thriving fishing town, a haven for smugglers, it's boat men serviced ships moored in the channel. It has links with Nelson and Dickens, both of whom spent time in the town.

There is a very active creative community of artists, musicians and crafts people in the town and surrounding area, with an exciting programme of events, concerts and exhibitions all through the year. Other attractions include museums, golf courses, the Astor Theatre and the Memorial Bandstand on Walmer Green.

Deal is an attractive town with a close-knit community, a rich heritage and plenty to offer visitors and residents. The local area, including Sholden, has seen a number of housing developments that has contributed to an expansion in primary school provision locally.
