Holy Trinity & St John's CEP School

About the School

Please read letters from Ann, Chair of Governors and Quentin, Director of Education.

Holy Trinity & St John’s Church of England Primary School is a large school serving an area of social deprivation in the central area of the Kent coastal town of Margate.  The current number on role is 420 children aged between 4 – 11 years.

The size of the school offers many advantages as we are able to offer a wide range of learning opportunities and have a number of specialist teachers in our employment. However, there remains a sense of family within the school community which is reinforced by our house system and close links with our parents/carers and the PTFA.

Our Mission Statement:

To develop confident, curious, independent, resilient, life-long learners within a Christian environment.

Holy Trinity and St John’s CEP is more than a place of community and friendship.  We strive for high standards of behaviour and academic achievement for all children.  We encourage initiative and equip our children with a confidence to enable them to feel positive about themselves.

We were graded as a Good school by Ofsted in the June 2013 inspection, and again as recently as November 2017.  Our extended school provisions offer our pupils a wealth of opportunities to not only continue their learning but to develop important social skills.  Some evidence of our extended school provision can be seen from our achievement in being awarded the Artsmark Gold and School Games Silver Award.

As a Church of England school we enjoy strong links with the parish church of St John the Baptist, the Diocese of Canterbury and Christian organisations within the community. Their representatives are frequent leaders of our worship, where collective worship is at the centre of our community.

At Holy Trinity and St John’s CEP, the Christian ethos of the school goes far beyond the RE curriculum. In work and play, children are given the opportunity to find out about the beliefs and values of others. The overriding message that permeates through the school is “Treat others the way you wish to be treated”. Our pupil's spiritual, social and moral development is grounded in Christian teaching where we learn to respect, forgive and care for each other and our world. As a result, we are a happy and safe school, where children and adults genuinely take great care of each other.
