North Borough Junior School is situated on a quiet residential street in Maidstone, the county town of Kent, South East England. The town’s population is over 113,000, it lies 32 miles (51 km) south-east of London and has its own football club and stadium.

As the county town, it has great transport links with buses covering many areas of the county. There are 3 train stations within the town and it only takes an hour to reach London by train. Getting to France is also easy, as Ashford International is just half an hour away, where you can then hop onto the Eurostar.

Maidstone is a highly functional and convenient town. From the school, you are able to walk to the high street where there is a great selection of shops and places to eat. Fremlin Walk is a modern outdoor shopping hub which opened in 2005 with many popular high street shops. There is an indoor shopping centre nearby and on the other side of the river is a retail park with large well-known stores. 

You can pop into one of the cafes for lunch and in the evening you can pick one of the many restaurants in town to have an enjoyable meal. There is an active nightlife with pubs, bars as well as clubs and live music venues.
Other than shopping there are many things to do from galleries and museums to the Hazlitt Theatre which shows comedy, plays, and musicals. Close to the town centre is a 9 screen cinema showing the latest blockbusters and must-see movies and next door is a trampoline park. 

Even though you’re in the centre of town, you’re also not far from green and blue space as Maidstone is on the River Medway. Take a lovely half hour walk along the tree lined River Medway path from the centre towards Allington Lock and take in the views over a drink. For the more adventurous, you can walk or cycle all the way to Tonbridge which is about 15 miles.
