Lympne CEP School

Local Area

There's only one Lympne (pronounced "Lim") in the world... The village of Lympne is perched above  Romney Marsh in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The sea at Dymchurch is about two miles away and the views from the ridge are spectacular.  On clear days France appears very near and with the Channel tunnel only a couple of miles down the road and Dover a twenty minute drive, links with the Continent are easy. London is easily accessible with the M20 on the far side of the village and the fast train from Ashford six miles away.

There is a regular bus service to Hythe, going onto Folkestone and Canterbury,  and local trains from Westenhanger and Sandling.  Hythe has its own secondary School and there are Grammar schools in Folkestone and Ashford.
With history stretching back to the Romans, and through both World Wars, where Lympne airfield played an important role, the village maintains its sense of community. In recent times the village has been enlarged with new houses and a modern School.   Nearby, is the world renowned Port Lympne Wild Animal Park which attracts thousands of visitors to experience an African Safari in Kent!

The Village has a ruined Roman fort, a Norman church and castle, as well as a Post Office/village shop, Pub and a Bistro restaurant. There are a wide variety of societies and activities for young and old alike.  More varied leisure pursuits are available in Hythe, the small Cinque port town three miles away. Tennis, cricket, golf, wind surfing, kite surfing, sailing are all on offer.
