Archbishop Courtenay Primary School

Local Area

Archbishop Courtenay CE Primary School lies just outside of Maidstone, the county town of Kent, South East England. The River Medway is a key feature of the town and is great for walks and seeing wildlife.

Historically, the river helped Maidstone develop as a town providing important trade routes and links with the rest of Kent.  Today, Maidstone is still excellently located with both the M20 and M2 motorways nearby, allowing quick access to the rest of the county.  The three railway stations make travel to London (one hour to London Victoria) and the coast simple, providing plenty of opportunity for day trips and weekends away.

At the centre of Maidstone is a busy and bustling town which is focused around Fremlin Walk shopping destination and the high street.  This is a popular location for people of all ages providing a wide range of shops, from big high street names to independent, specialist stores and a variety of cafes and food outlets. Maidstone is just as busy after dark with a wide choice of restaurants, a cinema, a bowling alley and bars and pubs.

If you prefer peace and quiet to a busy town then you can take full advantage of the beautiful Kent countryside that can be found all around Maidstone and the neighbouring towns.  For those with a keen interest in history, there is a lot to explore with Leeds Castle, museums, Penshurst Place and many other destinations of note nearby.
