Local Area
Tonbridge is set in the beautiful Kent countryside and is
an historic market town on the River Medway. The town is absorbed in history with its castle dating from Norman times and an exquisite manor house engrossed with medieval and Tudor charm.
The town has beautiful views towards the North Downs and is a great place to live and work. It has good rail and road links to London and the Kent and Sussex Coast so you can easily venture across the neighbouring counties.
Tonbridge has many sporting facilities and a national cycle route to the historic Penshurst Place which starts from the castle. Interestingly, the Tour de France passed through the town in 2007 and the Olympic double Gold Medallist Dame Kelly Holmes went to school in the town and trained at the local athletics club.
Many cultural events take place in thriving Tonbridge, including the annual Arts Festival. Other theatrical productions and art exhibitions take place throughout the rest of the year and there is an annual carnival and Christmas fireworks display.
