The retirement of our Headteacher after many years of service to the School has created an exceptional opportunity for an inspirational leader to drive forward the School’s ambitious strategy.

The Wyvern School is a modern, rapidly growing all age special school catering for 216 pupils with moderate, severe, profound and complex needs, including autism. A building extension plan has been agreed to significantly expand the School’s capacity in 2017.

The last three Ofsted inspections have judged the School good with outstanding features. The School aspires to achieve an “outstanding” rating in its next Ofsted.

The Governors are seeking a leader who:

• Has a proven record of leadership success
• Places teamwork at the centre of their leadership philosophy
• Has a thorough knowledge and deep understanding of all aspects of curriculum development, teaching standards, pupil progress and safeguarding in a special needs setting
• Is optimistic and passionate about maximising the potential and outcomes for pupils with special educational needs and has the energy and imagination to innovate and constantly develop the School’s provision
• Is an excellent communicator who will work closely with Governors, parents, agencies and schools in the local area

We can offer you:

• A new challenge if an experienced leader of a large Special School, and a significant career progression if currently a leader of a smaller Special School or an outstanding Deputy of a larger Special School
• A dynamic, enthusiastic and talented team
• Happy, highly motivated pupils making outstanding progress
• A vibrant and caring learning environment within a new purpose built facility with planned further expansion
• Sound school finances, and a competitive salary commensurate with the challenge and high expectations attached to the post, with scope for further advancement
