Bredhurst CEP School

About the School

Please read a Letter from the Chair of Governors

Bredhurst Church of England Primary is a picturesque village school situated on a lovely site, which has truly embedded itself in the local community.  Whilst we may be small in stature we play a key role in local events and our history of sporting achievements belies our small size.

There is a huge sense of tradition at our school and we have a long and proud history which dates back to 1867.  Whilst our school has been updated over time, the original Victorian building is still very much a part of our school.  A full and detailed History of the School can be found on our website.

We have a wide catchment area and are always heavily oversubscribed; we currently have 116 pupils spread over four classes, with mixed year groups and Teaching Assistants attached to each class.  The children look after one another and are sympathetic to the differing opinions and beliefs of others.

We work closely with the local Church and find that our Christian ethos encourages an inclusive, friendly environment.  As we straddle the border between Kent and Medway we have the opportunity to work closely with a wide range of schools and this is an area we are keen to develop further.

Teamwork is very important at Bredhurst and we work together as a whole school to provide pastoral care, teaching and learning. Our staff are engaging and open to new ideas and innovation.  We strongly believe that the learning environment should go well beyond the classroom and therefore opportunities for development and learning can be found all around the school buildings and grounds.

We asked our School Council for some feedback* on what they would like from their new Headteacher:
