Learning with a difference.

First, please read a letter from the Chair of Governors.

Sandwich Technology School is a high-achieving, over-subscribed secondary modern school, serving Sandwich and its surrounding village and coastal communities in East Kent. We have a whole-school roll of 1400 students, including a well-established and growing Sixth Form. Our Sixth Form offer includes a thriving Football Academy, with links to Chelsea Football Club.

We are one of the new breed of Academies, having been invited by the Secretary of State for Education to convert in 2010 in recognition of our status as an outstanding school. Previously awarded Technology and Applied Learning status, we have a reputation for expertise in these areas. We are also a member of the East Kent Learning Alliance (Teaching School).

Sandwich Technology School is an 11 to 18 school for girls and boys and, despite the challenges associated with being a non-selective school within a selective system, we are well known as a place for excellence and innovation. We are proud of our achievements. Our success is based on a commitment to personal growth and a desire to meet the needs of individual students. This aspiration is built on core values of mutual respect and trust, recognition of the importance of learning and a clear understanding of the conditions required for effective learning to take place.

Our curriculum is designed to be innovative and to offer enhanced learning opportunities beyond the National Curriculum. We strive to offer a broad range of courses that enhance the learning experience for all of our students and we take pride in recognising and developing the potential and needs of every individual.

As a school we constantly monitor our methods of teaching and learning and are always looking for ways to improve them.  We are proud of our track record of examination success and GCSE outcomes have continued to improve. An Ofsted inspection in July 2012 concluded that “Sandwich Technology School is a good school” providing a “very supportive learning environment”.

The appropriate use of Information and Communication Technologies pervades the whole curriculum.  As a Technology School, our enhanced facilities mean we can progressively raise the academic standards achieved by all.  Our ultimate aim is to develop a modern educational culture that reflects the technological age in which we live and equips our learners with the 21st Century skills necessary for success.

Our expertise is not confined to the field of technology; we are also proud to boast excellence across the curriculum which has been recognised with Artsmark Gold, Sportsmark and International School awards.

Please visit our website for a wealth of information about our school, its state-of-the-art facilities and the core values that underpin everything that we do.
