Elham is a village in East Kent situated approximately 9 miles south of Canterbury and 5 miles north east of Folkestone in the Elham Valley. Elham is situated deep in the heart of the North Downs and within the Kent Downs Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
There is plenty of history to explore in the area as Elham has retained many of its late medieval and Tudor heyday features. Further afield is Elham Valley Vineyard which is open all year round with an on-site shop selling wine, crafts pottery and a teashop. Elham Valley Way is a walking route that runs from Hythe to Canterbury following the Seabrook Stream and River Nailbourne.
Park Gate Down is just under a mile north of west Elham which is a small nature reserve and one of the top orchid sites in the country. Elham Park Wood is a tranquil place where you can enjoy the wild flowers in springtime and the sweet chestnuts in the autumn. Sparrowhawkes hunt here and you may hear woodpeckers, tawny Owls and tree creepers.
The bustling Historic City of Canterbury is just a short drive away and provides plenty of opportunity for shopping, entertainment and eating out.
