The Governors of Platt Church of England Primary School are seeking to appoint a new Headteacher with whom our school’s ethos, vision and values clearly resonate.  The school welcomed Ofsted in 2025, and the community is proud to be recognised as a “Good” school. It is now ready to move into its next chapter of growth and development.  To lead this initiative, we are seeking applications from highly regarded leaders who can inspire and deliver a clearly articulated vision and do so with integrity, vigour and true sense of community.

Platt Church of England Voluntary Aided Primary School is a much loved, popular and valued school in the heart of a supportive community in St. Mary’s Platt, Kent.  We enjoy all the benefits of a modern, purpose-built school and are privileged to have such a dedicated team of enthusiastic and outstanding staff who ensure that we provide a robust, exciting, safe and happy learning environment for our children.

We are looking for:

  • A person who understands the school’s philosophy and culture whilst successfully making their own mark in driving performance and improvement.
  • A Headteacher who supports the Christian values of the school.
  • An inspirational leader who will strive to work with, develop and empower staff, to create a sense of collective energy, motivation and common purpose within the team.
  • An innovative leader who will create a vibrant learning environment and a meaningful curriculum which inspires every child to fulfil their own potential and be ready for their futures, looking back on their time at Platt with pride and happiness.
  • A caring and respected person who embraces a culture of mutual respect amongst all pupils and stakeholders and reaches out to the broader community.
  • A Headteacher who builds a collective sense of responsibility and accountability, who is approachable, performance driven and with strong interpersonal and management capabilities.

What the children are looking for:

Taken from a very lively discussion with our Head Girls and Boys:

  • "A Headteacher who is kind, smiley and forgiving."
  • "A person with a good sense of humour - not too strict and who can be a bit silly!"
  • "A leader who will stand up for what is right and who will include everyone in all events."

We can offer you:

  • A school that is primed to grow and where the right leader will clearly see and be recognised for the impact of their initiatives.
  • Respectful, well-behaved children who love their school and who are proud of their achievements.
  • A wonderful, dedicated team of staff, who together with a supportive senior leadership team, have a collective passion for working with the children to enable them to be the best they can be.
  • Fantastic modern facilities with large self-contained grounds which give an immediate sense of a school that is well looked after, welcoming and safe.
  • A supportive, organised and pro-active Governing Body who is keen to work with the new headteacher to enable the school to reach its full potential.
  • An involved and helpful PTA.

If you are, or have been, a successful member of a school senior leadership team who can demonstrate how you have been instrumental in helping raise standards, deliver performance improvement and set a high standard of professional conduct, then we would be delighted to hear from you.

Visits to the school are welcomed and these can be arranged through prior appointment on 3rd, 15th or 17th December.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of all our students. You are advised that this post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (Amendment) (England and Wales) Order 2020 and therefore this post is subject to an Enhanced Disclosure Application to the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS).
