About The School

Number on Roll:- 395

First opened in the 1960s, Singlewell spent most of the following years successfully serving its community as a one form entry primary school. However, in 2016, a new build began which resulted in a gradual expansion to 2FE, together with refurbishment of the original school to the same standards. There are now around 400 pupils, able to enjoy its modern buildings and extensive playing fields, including our own Forest School, funded by the local community.

The school prides itself on its close relationship with parents and carers, with the result that attendance has always been above average, as is engagement with the children’s learning. Standards have been consistently high over the last  20 years, with Ofsted grades never less than good & often with outstanding features.

We pride ourselves on supporting children of all abilities and the SEND department came in for special praise during last year’s inspection. Indeed, all staff work very closely to ensure the best possible outcomes for every child, while being always on the lookout for new ideas and initiatives to support that.

The successful applicant will take on a school with 14 classes, 19 teachers and around 55 staff overall. Along with the classrooms and SEND base, there are two halls, varied grounds and a secure boundary with electronic gates. The outgoing headteacher leaves behind a fine legacy of children who enjoy school, with supportive parents & carers, plus  a highly dedicated staff & governing body, looking forward to working with a new leader going into the next chapter of  this lovely school.
