Dunton Green Primary School

About The School

Please read a welcome letter from the Chair of our Governing Body here.

You can view our Ofsted report here.

We are a warm, friendly, one-form entry community school which has been at the heart of the village for over a hundred years. We pride ourselves on being one big family and are lucky to have kind and enthusiastic children; talented and dedicated staff; aspirational governors; and an engaged and supportive parent/carers’ community.

We work together to put the children’s happiness and wellbeing at the centre of every decision that we make. We strongly believe in giving children of all abilities the best possible opportunities to develop their self-confidence and succeed - enabling children to reach their full potential by providing an excellent education and nurturing a love for learning.

We aim to build a culture of positivity which underpins all behaviours and attitudes to learning. Achievement is celebrated and pupils are regularly praised for showing the school’s core values of resilience, teamwork, perseverance, achievement, kindness and respect.

Our aim is for the children to become thoughtful, responsible young people who respect themselves, those around them and their environment; and who value diversity and difference.

Our children are taught in a well-equipped, stimulating environment by a passionate team. The headteacher role is supported by an Assistant Head and Senior Leadership Team (including a SENDCO); as well as a Family Liaison Officer, Bursar, Office Manager, Teachers and Teaching Partners. The school is committed to CPD and providing development opportunities for all staff.

The school benefits from lovely grounds in which our children can play and learn; including a large playing field, two playgrounds, outdoor play equipment and an ‘outdoor learning area’ - with aspirations to create a forest school.

To stimulate their curiosity, children are encouraged to engage in a range of workshops, school trips and extra-curricular activities (incl. hockey, dance, drama and music). Children enjoy representing the school at a range of inter-school competitions and have been proud winners of the local District Sports two years running. We also have an active School Council with children encouraged to champion the voices of their peers. We were proud to receive the Kent Literary Award in 2020.

The school plays a big part in the local community with the children visiting the local church and care homes. Annual Summer and Christmas fetes are organised by our active and dedicated PTA and attended by the whole community.

We received a ‘good’ rating at our last Ofsted inspection in 2018 and have gone from strength to strength ever since. Leaders and governors are relentlessly ambitious and consistently aim for outstanding outcomes. This is an exciting time to join Dunton Green Primary School as we continue our journey and look to maximise future opportunities for our children.
