Cheriton Primary School is very close to a beautiful stretch of coastline and nestled between the North Downs and the Kent countryside. 

Right on our doorstep we have the Tower Theatre, a wonderful venue for hire or to see local musicians and productions. We also benefit from the high-speed train service where you can be in London in less than an hour. The channel tunnel is also situated in Cheriton, and you can be in France within 35 minutes.

Folkestone has a thriving creative quarter with its quaint cobbled streets and an abundance of independent shops, galleries and restaurants. This leads down to the Harbour Arm, which comes alive in the summer with hosts of artisan market stalls, entertainment and food and drink outlets. At the heart of the creative quarter is the Quarterhouse, which is a busy performing arts venue. The Folkestone harbour area hosts a beautiful sandy beach where bathing and water sports take place. The area also has renowned popular restaurants.

Above sea level is the Leas Promenade with lavish gardens and a bandstand with fantastic views across the English Channel where on a clear day you can see the coastline of France. The Leas Cliff Hall hosts a variety of touring shows and Pantomime Show enjoyed by the entire school, all together each Christmas. The Lower Leas Coastal Park has lovely woodland walks, access to the wonderful beach, a cycle path running all the way to the lighthouses at both Dungeness and St Margaret’s, as well as a large adventure playground. Picnic areas and spaces for family get togethers are in abundance. Kent’s Heritage Coast won international recognition, named as one of the best regions in the world to visit, on Lonely Planet’s Best in Travel 2022.

Folkestone also boasts a vast choice of sporting venues and opportunities. These include the Sports Centre offering a swimming pool, dry ski slope and high ropes challenge. Three Hills Sports Park, home of the Folkestone Optimist Hockey Club and Folkestone Cricket Club. Folkestone Invicta football stadium is situated right behind Three Hills, hosting weekly matches. Along Hythe Canal there are opportunities for canoeing and paddle boarding.  Tourist attractions such as the Romney, Hythe and Dymchurch Light Railway and an abundance of walks and nature trails.  There are two sailing clubs close by with a number of great golf clubs.  Folkestone is also home to the new F51 skatepark and climbing wall.
