About The School

We are a two-form entry school with a maintained Nursery. As well as providing a fun, engaging and challenging curriculum, we pride ourselves on the learning environment we create and the pastoral care we offer; all children are happy and successful during their time at West Borough Primary School.

West Borough Primary School is a popular and oversubscribed school on the outskirts of Maidstone town centre. We have 450 pupils on roll, plus a further 54 pupils in our wonderful, maintained Nursery.

Academically, our pupils regularly achieve above other schools nationally.  In our school we want everyone to feel good about themselves and how they are growing to become future members of the wider community, with aspirations for their own future and clear goals to achieve success.  Beyond the classroom, we aim to provide pupils with a wide variety of experiences in the form of music, speakers/visitors, trips (including residential) and sporting events.

We are fortunate to have extensive grounds and buildings which include a large field, a pond, gardening areas, 2 school halls, 2 nurture spaces, a library and a music room. These spaces help to enhance our curriculum and support pupils’ development.

As well as having high expectations for learning and behaviour, we firmly believe that children have to be ready to learn. We achieve this by providing a range of support and activities. These range from nurture to Forest School, led by specialist practitioners or time with Bea, our school dog. Recently, the school has engaged with OPAL to develop our play offer, with a focus on further developing our lunchtime offer across the school. Our wrap-around care is also very popular; Acorns Breakfast and After School is a wonderful part of our school and ensures that where children have a longer day in school, the care they receive is consistent and of a high quality from start to finish.

As an inclusive school, we believe every child should have the opportunity to thrive in a safe and appropriate environment where all of their needs are met. Our Key Stage 2 ASD Satellite provision enables pupils with an EHCP to integrate fully into a mainstream classroom, supported where needed. As a culturally diverse community, we strive to give children many opportunities to celebrate their uniqueness.

Through our core values of Equality, Responsibility, Respect. Resilience and Challenge we aim to develop well rounded citizens. Children have many opportunities to develop as leaders during their time in the school. From being a School Learning Council rep, to a Reading Ambassador, a Cultural Ambassador to a Year 6 Ambassador; pupil voice permeates through school life.

West Borough Primary School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants for this post will be subject to a DBS check and successful references prior to a start date. Please read the school's Child Protection Policy which can be found in the documents below.
